After 12 months, the 26-year-old opted for a £60 million move to the Gunners, believing the situation was ripe.
“The first question to answer is why I chose to stay with the same club last year. Because I still wanted to play for Sociedad. It didn’t seem like the right time.” he said during the pre-season tour in Singapore.
“I saw that Sociedad was progressing alongside me, which was the main reason. So the best thing for me at that time was to continue working together.”
“Arteta’s influence? I don’t know what he sees in me, but what I see in him is the best coach in Europe.”
“When the time came for me to leave, I wanted to work with a quality coach. I saw how he observed the players. How he tutored them in the details of the game, so I thought I had found the right manager.”
“It’s a change I’ve been wanting, and from the first day I arrived here, I’ve known the club’s greatness, and I’m trying to adapt.”
Zubimendi is expected to show his skills in midfield in the friendly against AC Milan (23 July ) .
